
Ana Catalina Ramírez Castrillo
Bryn Mawr Conservatory of Music Clarinet FacultyAna Catalina Ramírez Castrillo holds the Undergraduate Diploma of the Longy School of Music; the degree of Master of Music from the University of Massachusetts Amherst; and the degree of Doctor of Musical Arts from Temple University, where she studied with Ricardo Morales, Principal Clarinetist of the Philadelphia Orchestra. A native of Costa Rica, Dr. Ramírez was named Clarinetist of the Year 2010 for Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking countries. As a soloist, she has performed in Venezuela, Panama, Brazil, Peru, Portugal, Costa Rica, and the United States, and has given world premieres of works by many distinguished Latin-American composers. As an orchestral musician, she has been a member of the Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Costa Rica; the Mississippi Symphony Orchestra; the YouTube Symphony Orchestra; the orchestra of Opera North; and the Orchestra of the Americas, with which she toured in North America, Latin America, and China. She has taught at the University of Massachusetts, Mississippi College, Temple University, and the Academia Latinoamericana de Clarinete.
